Amanda Jeannette Detmer is a charming American actress. In 1999, she made her big-screen debut playing Miss Minneapolis in the comedy film Drop Dead Gorgeous. Later, Amanda had a supporting role in the 2000 supernatural horror film Final Destination.
On September 27, 1971, she was born in Vista, California, and raised in Chico, also in California, U.S.A. Amanda’s father, Melvin Lester Detmer, is a singing cowboy and her mother, Susan (née Thurmon), is a teacher.
Before stepping into show business, she attended California State University, Chico, for undergraduate studies. She completed her Master’s degree in Fine Arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. In the early 2000s, Amanda appeared in several roles in the comedy films Boys and Girls, Saving Silverman, The Majestic, and Kiss the Bride (2002).
