An effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation should be holistic, comprehensive, and highly specialized. The idea behind inpatient rehab centers is to provide alcohol addiction patients with intensive and involving experiences that address the person’s physical, psychological, and emotional needs.

Therefore, any rehab center should have two major components to meet that requirement: medical detoxification and inpatient treatment. Medical detoxification manages the withdrawal symptoms resulting from quitting alcohol or any substance consumption. However, detoxification is not enough, and inpatient rehab comes in. the residential treatment offers an intensive program of therapy and counseling to help patients get to the root of addiction and start a successful recovery. Take a look at a typical schedule of an inpatient rehab center.

A Nutritious Break

Most alcohol addiction patients do not pay close attention to their diet or nutrition. Others may never have time for proper meals but survive on random snacks. As a result, most inpatient alcohol rehab centers emphasize meals and adequate nutrition.

In most residential rehab centers, a healthy breakfast comes between six and eight o’clock in the morning. Professional nutritionists design the breakfast. The patients eat together in a communal setup which helps to nurture relationships that develop during the treatment programs.

Individual Behavioral Therapy

One of the most effective methods most inpatient alcohol rehab centers use is cognitive-behavioral therapy. CBT aims to teach alcohol patients to discover the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and actions and create awareness of how these factors impact recovery. CBT teaches that most harmful actions and emotions are not rational but come from past experiences and environmental triggers.

Furthermore, cognitive behavioral therapy treats addiction co-occurring mental issues like anxiety, bipolar, eating disorder, attention deficit disorder, and post-traumatic stress.

Recreation and Other Outdoor Activities

Inpatient alcohol rehab centers allow their residents free time, mainly afternoons. This time aims to ensure that the patients do not engage in substance use but have time to socialize with each other. Residents can enjoy entertainment and engage in their hobbies during their free time.

Although schedules may vary from one rehab center to another, significant activities are shared across the majority of the centers. Examples include active activities like basketball, ping-pong, swimming, among others. However, patients are not allowed to leave the facility during the time set for outdoor activities.

Complementary Therapies and Fitness

A residential alcohol rehab uses a holistic approach to address addiction. Complementary techniques like yoga, meditation, or massage could be helpful to some clients. They incorporate various treatment methods in general care for the patient’s benefit.

In addition, physical exercise is essential in reducing stress, anxiety, and alcohol cravings. Therefore, some facilities include it in the daily schedule. Some facilities have a complete fitness area with physical exercise equipment such as tennis courts and a gym. Some of the developed rehab centers provide personal and group fitness instructors to assist the residents in exercise.

 Commitment and Effective Recovery

Many alcohol rehab centers have similar daily routines with a few exceptions that may vary according to the needs of their patients. However, the alcohol patient’s commitment to the schedule and treatment programs determines the impact of the methods on the recovery. If you dedicate yourself to the rehab center’s schedule, you can be sure of an effective recovery.
